Why didn't I experience any bruising or swelling with my lip fillers?

Question

Yesterday I just got a half syringe of lip filler in my bottom and top lip with restalyne, right after there was no swelling or bruising and even the next day, as in today, still no bruising or swelling, is that not normal? I feel no pain or soreness nothing!?

Thank you for your question. As everyone responds differently to filler some are more prone to swelling and bruising. You have nothing to worry about as this has no bearing on your final result. You can also attribute your minimal downtime to a gentle injector. Best of Luck!

Count yourself lucky!  Everyone responds differently to filler. Some are more prone to swelling and bruising.  The fact you did not experience these side effects has no bearing on your final result.  You may also attribute your minimal downtime to a gentle injector.  Enjoy your results!

Great question. Oftentimes my lip augmentations do not cause bruising and occassionally they do.  However, it there is no swelling wondering if you got enough filler to give you a lasting augmentation and fullness.  If happy with results great!  Now just wait to see how long results last.

I assume you are not complaining, but perhaps questioning the result or efficacy of procedure? Like any other tx, everyone reacts differently. If your injector used a cannula, you are most likely to experience minimal to none side effects. I would not worry, and enjoy your results!

Hello and thank you for your question.  I must say that it is very very rare that one doesn't get swelling, but not getting bruising is even better.  I wonder if cannula technique was used for your lips and if so, this is likely the result of this injection technique.  You provider did an excellent job.  Nothing to worry about. Usually lip fillers cause a a lot of swelling and may or may not cause bruising. It's nice if you did not get either. #lucky!

Most times you will have very limited bruising or swelling with Restylane. Some of the other fillers such as Restylane Lyft or Juvederm Ultra Plus which are thicker can more often cause bruising and swelling. Please consult an expert in facial injections.  Best, Dr. Green
