I can still grab fat around the abdominal area after Vaser Lipo is that normal? . I’m 3 weeks post op

Thank you for your question regarding fat in the abdominal area after VASER liposuction. Based on your limited history and without physical examination or pictures, I believe you are still swollen. Since you are still only three weeks’ post-op and its to early to tell anything. For most patients, the swelling is gone at approximately six weeks. For other patients, the swelling may take eight to twelve months to subsidize after VASER liposuction. At this point in time, I would not worry. I would express your concerns, however, to your plastic surgeon. If you were my patient, I would suggest you undergo lymphatic massage for at least 5 treatments. I would suggest you continue to wear your garment until you are at least six to eight weeks post op. I would also suggest a high protein low carbohydrate diet, and aggressive exercise. In conclusion, it is too early to tell if this is fat or swelling. I hope it is just swelling. This can be typically normal. This could still be a result of the trauma, fat slow to move out, or fluids still in the area. Every patient reacts differently. You may be benefit from lymphatic massage.

hello southwestsMany studies indicate that there is also less injury than the traditional liposuction method resulting in less pain, swelling and bruising.  Final results can be seen 2-4 months later as the swelling continues to diminish and contours become more defined.   These contours can even improve throughout the year after surgery. #post-op #results
We will generally have our patients use a variety of compressive garments while they heal.  More specific body sculpting or hi-definition treatments may require more specific compression to obtain the best result.
