Is it normal to already plan ahead for a scar revision post tummy tuck surgery?

A tummy tuck sometimes requires a scar revision. I have never told a patient to expect a scar revision but I let them know it is a possibility.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, it is hard to predict future complications. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Thank you for sharing your question. We often don't plan for a revision but it is good that your surgeon has plans in place in case anything were to happen.

Typically scars from a tummy tuck heal favorably and no revision is needed. If a patient's skin is such that she/he may be at higher risk for needing a revision it may be discussed with the patient prior to surgery, but it is not usually planned.

To be sure I understand, you are planning for a scar revision before any surgery.

While final scars can't be fully predicted, Bad scars requiring revision after TT are not common.

Perhaps you are being led down a path you created.

I've never heard of planning a scar revision before doing ANY surgery, that sounds strange indeed. I'd be wary or ask again excatly what they meant, maybe you misunderstood.
