Why can't liposuction be re-done after 20 years?

Fact that your 20 years out from previous liposuction is actually good thing. More timings more resolution of the injury from the previous procedure. This does not mean that your necessarily a good candidate. That would depend on the amount of fatty question and the skin overlying that fat.

The ideal candidate is young (good skin elasticity), never been pregnant (good skin elasticity) and not significantly over weight.  Do you have smooth skin?  If there are contour irregularities as a result of the first liposuction, further liposuction may not correct the deformity or could make it worse.  Do you have skin laxity?  Liposuction will not tighten loose skin.  Are you significantly over weight?  The skin may not contract sufficiently if large volume is aspirated.  If you are in good health there is no absolute contraindication to having liposuction 20 years after the first liposuction.  However, the changes that occur with ageing can affect outcome and the results are less predictable.

Hi - I have never heard this as a reason not to perform liposuction before.  Residual scar tissue is very minimal.  As long as you are a suitable candidate for liposuction (ie. don't need any more extensive surgery like abdominoplasty) then there shouldn't be a problem.  Be sure to consult a fully qualified Plastic Surgeon.

I do not see any problem in having  a second liposuction and more if it has been 20 years from the first one. Seek for other opinions of board certified plastic surgeon. Best of luck

It is typically not a problem to perform a second liposuction, especially at such a long time since the first procedure.  The clinic may simply not want to perform the case.  Seek out a second opinion, I recommend getting 3 consultations.

It is not an issue at all.There might be other issues such as you age, health, weight, doctor confidence, expectiation of patient.

I am quite frankly surprised that no one will do your surgery. There is certainly no medical contraindication. The surgery is a little more difficult the second time around because the fat is now marbled with scar tissue but good results can be achieved. Keep searching for an experienced plastic surgeon!
