When my face is resting my moth is open. To make my lips meet I have to strain them. I have a receding chin. I am wondering what procedure would do best to fix this. I played around with a plastic surgery app and I created what i would want my profile to look like. I would like to know what steps needed to be taken to create this. Thank you!
Answer: Lip incompetence and muscle strain Thank you for your pictures. If your exam reveals "long face" imbalance then a upper and lower jaw surgery and genioplasty would be appropriate. If an exam does not reveal this then a genioplasty with advancement and vertical reduction would be beneficial.

Answer: Lip strain and receding chin A chin implant is the perfect option for you and will provide a nice balance to your other facial features. This will give you the added forward projection that you want when viewing your side profile, and it will help to support the lower lip. That lip strain that you describe (often associated with dimpling of the skin from the muscle contracting over the chin) is a dead giveaway for someone who would benefit from a chin implant.I use silastic chin implants, and place them through a small incision hidden below and behind the chin. You will find that there are a variety of implant materials and placement techniques, but most surgeons these days prefer silastic implants.Chin implants come in various shapes. One thing I like about the silastic ones is that they can be further customized by carving them into the perfect contour for each patient. You have nice feminine features, so make sure you and your surgeon are on the same page with your goals for the final appearance. You can certainly get a very nice result without an overly masculine strong chin.

Answer: Chin implant for receding chin If her mouth is open all the time, it's important to have an internal examination of the nose and correct any obstruction that may be there. Frequently patients have a deviated nasal septum for which a septoplasty can address. When patients have a weak chin profile, a chin implant can be inserted under local anesthesia as an outpatient surgical procedure. Chin implants are placed through sub mental approach to give added projection to the chin, but have nothing to do with lip strain.
