Hello, I had my phinoplasty 16 days ago and developed an open roof deformation according to my doc who will refill the gap with rediesse..my concern is if this will go away and what is wrong with my nostrils? Unfortunately they became very uneven and it is noticeable..doc say that this area is taking the longest to heal but do you think I will need a surgery again?..is this possible for the left nostril to "fall" into its place? I still have the stitches inside them though..I'm worried Thank you
Answer: No, no, please no Radiesse! Even your *skin* is still trying to heal after your recent rhinoplasty, and the skin looks very thin in the area of the open roof, so please don't torture the skin with Radiesse. Who knows what will happen. And the Radiesse takes a loooooong time to re-absorb, so it can complicate a future attempt to get your nose looking right. As distressing as this must be right now, I would advise caution, and let the nose continue to heal without doing anything else to it right now. See if there is anything at all you can do with makeup to hide the dent between the bones.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Concerns Thank you for your question. I do see the irregularities you are describing in your picture. We should remember that you are only 2 weeks out from surgery and any irregularity (even those that will eventually go away), will be more obvious at this time. That being said, I would like to see a smoother dorsal profile than what your picture is revealing. I think at this point, it would be wise to wait for all swelling to resolve, which can take anywhere from 6 months to 1 year. I would continue to follow up with your surgeon to come up with a treatment plan. I would be very cautious before having filler placed in your nose at this point (or at any other point in the future). Always see a board certified facial plastic or general plastic surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty. I hope that this helps,-David Gilpin

Answer: Rhinoplasty results Thanks for your post. Yes, Radiesse may be able to temporarily improve the look by disguising the irregularity on the bridge of your nose, but it will not fix the deformity. Also, based on the asymmetry of your nostrils I think you may require some structural revision in the future. However, as your nose heals and swelling goes down, it might not be as obvious. Most surgeons will wait 6-12 months before performing revision surgery. Be sure to continue regular follow-up with your surgeon. Good luck!

Answer: Open Roof Defomity If you have concerns regarding the advice you've received from you surgeon it never hurts to seek another consultation. You need to feel comfortable with the choices. If you get a second opinion take copies of your operative report and any surgical diagrams.Michael Sullivan M.D.
