I am considering a fat reduction with Vanquish while I am having vitiligo. Is there any danger in spreading of vitiligo?

Vitiligo is an auto-immune disorder that causes loss of pigment in the skin and it has no real cure. With that being said, receiving Vanquish treatments should not interrupt/spread vitiligo. However, it is likely that you will eventually lose pigment in other areas of the body in addition to the areas that have already been effected. Hi,Vanquish is field radiofrequency to heat fat cells and destroy them.  It is color independent and should not affect pigment cells.  This is why Vanquish is safely used on all skin types.  Vitiligo can wax and wane since it is an auto-immune disease attacking the pigment cells.  Vitiligo varies in severity in each patient but should not be affected by radiofrequency.Warmly,Dr. Liu
