Can someone suggest me what should I do to prevent the swelling. Or should I visit the doctor immediately? It is my first time having fillers. Will they always look like this. They look disgusting :( Thank you
Answer: Swelling after Lip Augmentation Thank you for your question. Having 1.8ml is a large amount of filler for lip augmentation which is contributing to your excessive swelling. Typically it is not advisable to inject more than 1ml at a time to prevent overcorrecting. However, it is common to have some swelling after lip augmentation which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. You can apply cold compresses to the treated area to help reduce swelling and bruising. I recommend having a follow up in 2 weeks with your injector for an evaluation. Best of Luck!

Answer: I Had 1.8 ML Juvederm Yesterday On Both Lips. They Look Terribly Big And Swollen. They Feel Unnatural. Is This Normal? Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs. Sorry to hear about your experience. In general, 1.8 ML is a large amount of Juvederm for lip augmentation. I typically recommend starting with one syringe, which will help to minimize normal postprocedure swelling and bruising. Additional product can be added 2 weeks after initial treatment, if necessary, to achieve the desired result. I recommend that my patients apply ice for up to 48 hours after the procedure. Arnica is also beneficial for minimizing swelling and bruising. If you continue to have concerns, please be sure to see your injector for an in-person reevaluation in order to determine the best course of action. Unwanted filler can be removed with Vitrase. Hope this helps and best wishes!

Answer: Swelling after Lip Augmentation Thank you for your question. Generally, lips do swell after Lip augmentation. You certainly do have a significant amount of swelling. The swelling can take up to 2 weeks to return to normal. When I inject, I usually stop after one syringe and have the patient return 2 weeks later to evaluate and if needed will inject more at that time. If after 2 weeks you are unhappy with the size of your lips, return to your injector. He or she can help reduce the size of the lips. I hope this helps. Regards, Dr. DiPasquale

Answer: Lip augmentation with Juvederm You are very swollen, which is okay for some patients. However, 1.8 cc's of filler in the first treatment is an excessive amount (my opinion). Give your lips 1 to 2 weeks for the swelling to go down and hopefully you will be happy with the proportions of your lips. Good luck from New York City

Answer: Lips ad filler You are very right. Yes, swelling is part of lip injection but your is dramatic. You have received very large volume of fillers and you have absolutely all rights to be upset. It is a common practice to push as much product as possible to sell as much as possible without regard to aesthetics or potential complications. Fortunately, those injectors represent a rapidly disappearing fraction of doctors. Always ask for your injector's before and after photos of previous cases. It will take you a brief moment, one look at the results, and you will know if it is appropriate for you. The best way to find someone is through the word of mouth. Avoid marketing, ads and self promotions! Meanwhile, apply ice and treat your lips gently. You should also notify your injector. If after several days you are still not satisfied, your filler can be rapidly reversed with enzyme hyaluronidase. It shouldn't cost you anything to dissolve it. If you get to this point you should insist of having your money back. It is not your fault. It is not filler's fault. You didn't have un unexpected "reaction" to filler. What you have is the most common consequence of ....filler abuse. It was your first injection and, I assume, you have completely relied on you injector's expertise. I'm sorry it happened to you! It shouldn't! Good luck!
