Back pain, fluid and lumps after BBL? Is this normal? (photos)

I’m sorry for the adverse symptoms you’re experiencing. Ten days is too short of a time to evaluate your Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) final outcome. Maximum results would take up to 6 months to show. The swelling and pain during the first 2 weeks are significant, and most patients will have difficulties moving around. However, your plastic surgeon will prescribe pain medication to handle any pain that might be involved and help you feel much more comfortable. You will see significant improvement in the way your body feels and looks in the following 2 weeks. Refrain from strenuous activity for the first month after surgery and contact your surgeon promptly if you notice an increase in swelling, pain, redness, drainage, or bleeding in the surgical area, or if you develop fever (above 100.4 F), dizziness, nausea, or vomiting. Everyone’s results and recovery vary depending on their anatomy, medical and surgical history, the surgeons experience and technique, and approach to recovery methods to name some. It’s best to communicate your concerns with your surgeon.  Your surgeon should be the best one to take care of you. If you are still unsatisfied or second guessing then you should consider a second opinion via a face to face consultation.

Swelling, some lumps and bumps are common at this stage and usually resolve. This may take 2-3 months. The drainage, however, is unusual and requires medical attention. Please discuss your concerns with your Plastic Surgeon and set up a follow up consultation with him. All The Best !

Thanks for your question -While there can be some swelling and unevenness of the areas treated, fluid drainage after two weeks isn't typical.  We've done thousands of Brazilian Butt Lifts and drainage after several weeks is unusual.You could have fat necrosis or a seroma.  Visiting your plastic surgeon as soon as possible should be your next move.It is possible that this will all resolve without any need for intervention but you should see you surgeon to be sure.Hope this helps.

You're still very early in your recovery. Please be patient any allow your body to heal before passing judgement on your result. Wear your garment and follow your surgeons recommendations. Make sure to discuss your concerns with your surgeon. 

Thanks for your question. You are in early period of your healing period. You need time to heal completely. Especially after vaser liposuction fluid accumulation can seen. This operation is also your second operation and second operation is more painful than first one. After vaser lips skin excess is normal,this skin excess will contract with time because your skin quality is good.

Swelling can figure prominently into liposuction after a few weeks.  The results are typically observed immediately following surgery, and then there is a period of swelling that can persist for 3 to 6 months and sometimes longer.   At 2 weeks following liposuction, lumps are common.  Even after 6 weeks lumps are common.  Massage may help, but time will be the best treatment. Be sure to wear your compression garment as specified by your PS.Kenneth Hughes, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a BBL surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides  you will be able to see the final result of your surgery.

Thanks for your question. There is a process of swelling and bruising that peaks at 3 days after surgery and then undergoes the first stage of major resolution in the first 2 weeks after surgery.  The lateer phase of healing takes place over the 2-3 months after surgery where everything really settles and softens.  It is after this time that we are getting close to the final result, though this varies patient to patient.
