Will anything happen from taking a few puffs from a cigarette and cigar when I’m 7 weeks post op from my bbl?

Question

I smoked some of a cigar and cigarette last night, I did not have a full one. I just took a few puffs from them. I’m currently in my 7th week post op from my bbl surgery. April 8th will mark my 8 week since I’ve done my bbl surgery. Will taking a few puffs do anything to my results since I’m so far along in my recovery process. I haven’t smoked in 2 months and last night was my first time in 2 months.

I appreciate your questions! As smoking delays proper healing and increases the risk of complications, I recommend stop smoking at least 4 weeks before getting a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). Smoking is proven to reduce blood circulation in the body, which can cause the resorption of the newly transplanted fat cells. The same applies to alcohol, which prevents the new fat cells from developing a blood supply quick enough to survive transplantation. Therefore, it is crucial to quit smoking and abstain from alcohol consumption before a BBL procedure and during recovery. Consult with your plastic surgeon about your particular needs and concerns. smoking has a serious negative effect on healing process and every plastic surgeon recommend their patients smoking cessation in order to reduce the risk of complications. It is hard to tell how will this affect your results.

Thanks for the question and provided information as well.
You should not smoke again, because doing so can decrease blood supply and oxygen, and this delays your healing process.

Thanks for writing,Cigarettes contain nicotine and carbon monoxide (the same thing that comes out of the tail pipe of a car), these things make wound healing a problem by decreasing blood supply, oxygen delivery etc.. Not to mention the high risk of throat, pharynx lung and bladder cancer. Why not just throw them away? There is nothing good about smoking. I hope this helps Stephen M. Davis, MD, FACS

You did not cause any damage to your BBL from taking two puffs of a cigarette.  The problem with taking to puffs is that all too often it leads to taking two more. Then two more than two packs then two cartons then eventually you've prematured the aging process and the doctors telling you that the tumor is not treatable.  Don't do it again.

Hi and welcome to our forum!In our practice we recommend cessation of smoking for 4 weeks prior to surgery and for 4 weeks after surgery....but, since you have gone so long without it, why restart? You have already gone through the worst of nicotine withdrawal!Best wishes...
