I am wondering if liposuction would help me achieve a more defined jawline. I am also wondering what I need to know or look out for in potential providers. Also, is this a procedure that requires a lot of aesthetic input from the doctor?
Answer: Jawline Definition / Jawline Enhancement / Facial Sculpting / Facial Contouring -- injectable fillers like Revanesse Versa For a more defined jawline to strengthen your profile (and help prevent the dreaded jawline "jowl" sagging), we use injectable fillers like Revanesse Versa - a filler known to limit swelling and give subtle, soft enhancements - or Radiesse. Using a cannula to limit pain and swelling, we inject on the bone in strategic points to get more lift and shaping, resulting in a more contoured lower face and defined, structured jawline. I would suggest getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Chin liposuction Dear nicksneck, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Based on your photos, it looks like you would benefit from chin liposuction. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Candidacy When deciding on aesthetic surgical procedures the process should begin by making an accurate diagnosis a.k.a. assessment. Dentists are found of saying pay attention to the bone because the soft tissues will follow. Plastic surgeons should listen to their colleagues in oral surgery because most of facial aesthetics is primarily related to bone structure. If you’re Mandible is small in relationship to your maxilla the following characteristics tend to happen. Patients often have a dental overbite, and profile pictures the upper lip will have more forward projection the lower lip, the underlying platysma muscle in the neck will drape the neck obliquely, jawline definition is lost, a premature double chin forms and jowls will form prematurely. Simply augmenting the chin with an implant, sliding genioplasty or Fillers will project the tip of the man the bowl or the chin but will not address the platysma muscle or dental occlusion. Oral surgeons tend to look at things from a skeletal perspective first and doing so isn’t a bad idea to get a formal understanding of facial dynamics. Most likely a sliding genioplasty or chin implant would be fairly ideal procedures but depending on Seattle relationships advancing the Mandible may be an option as well though a bit more intrusive. Liposuction alone can give good results but if someone’s skeletal structure is causing all of the problems than it isn’t addressing the primary problem. The amount of impact of liposuction is directly related to how much fat someone has to remove. Even those with less than ideal bone structure can have nice liposuction results if they have fat to remove. Based on your pictures which by the way are exactly what we need, I think you should consult with oral surgeons and plastic surgeons. When consulting with providers the only two variables I have found that differentiate the best providers from the rest are having a massive collection of before and after pictures and Fuc to know justified negative reviews on various physician review websites. These are the two single Hallmarks of the truly greats. Someone who has done thousands of procedures without leaving people feeling hurt to the point of having to write negative reviews is something that can only be accomplished by those who are truly dedicated and have talent. Confirming experience is best done by asking providers to show their entire collection of before and after pictures. If Rider‘s claim they’ve done the procedure lots of times that they should have lots of before and after pictures. An experienced provider should have no difficulty showing you 50 or more sets of before and after pictures of the procedure you’re interested in. Seen the best two or three outcomes from their career is useless because it is not a representation of average results. Confident experienced providers should have no difficulty showing you good bad and average outcomes and be able to explain each outcome and why it looks the way it does. An abundance of positive reviews may seem reassuring but typically only represents self promotion and a strong marketing effort. The absence of justified negative reviews are more telling and more important than an abundance of positive reviews. Negative reviews are always organic. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
