Hello Doctors, there are so many version of topical finasteride and dutasteride on the market. In your expertise opinions which ones are good and worth a try? There's companies such as happy head, XYON, and many more that offer topical finasteride and dutasteride. Can any hair loss expert doctor here narrow it down to a good brand with results and data behind it? Thank you

I do not recommend using online prescription pharmacies because any prescription used for hair loss should be managed by a specialist. This logic applies to all fields of medicine. For example, you would not want your diabetes managed by a cardiologist.

Answer: Topical Finasteride and Dutasteride Hello and thank you for your question. In my opinion, I don’t think one brand is better than another. That being said, you need to make sure that any product from either of these medications are made int he US, Canada or Europa. I don’t trust those made in other countries.

These companies often do not involve board-certified dermatologists. Even when they offer an online consultation with a provider, it is usually with a nurse practitioner or physician assistant who prescribes the same treatment for everyone. The concentration of the medication may be lower than what is prescribed by a physician, and the provider may not explain the indications and contraindications.

You may find one product more irritating to your scalp than another as they likely have different carriers but this will be a case of trial and error.
