I had my hair transplant done on April 30th, 2024. I waited about a year to let my hair grow in to complete this review. My hair growth over this period has been awesome! I look great and a lot younger and I’m an older guy who just turned 60. Dr. Diep is the best and he and his staff are easy to talk with, responsive and answered all my questions and concerns. The procedure took 12 hours and recuperation was a few days of down time but well worth the inconvenience. I strongly recommend Dr. Diep if you’re considering a hair transplant. He will make you look amazing!

I had my surgery exactly a year ago. I had huge bald spots on my right and left side of my head from traction alopecia. Growing up I hated my curly hair and would style daily with gel, mouse, and hairsprays while keeping it in a tight ponytail. I first noticed my hair loss when I was 15 years old but that don’t stop me. By the time I was 21 I couldn’t tie my hair without my bald spots showing or the thin hairs weren’t able to cover majority. I started looking at doctors in 2020 and gone thru multiple consultations. I ran into dr. Dieps page earlier last year and seen he’s worked on females with similar patterns and the rest is history. I love my results! Now I don’t feel insecure when I walk out and my heads showing.

* Like most things in life, you will get out of it exactly what you put into it—this applies to the planning, communication, organization, supporting the execution, and healing/facilitation process
* Perfection is impossible, and I don’t really have a point of comparison, but Dr. Diep and his team can be a significant catalyst for change
* Recognize what you can’t control, and take full responsibility for every aspect you can control. It’s too big an investment in money, time, and energy not to own this decision deeply.
* There are quirks to the experience (outside of the actual procedure), but focus on what you can control about it, and you can be at peace with the outcome.
* You will learn a ton about yourself along the way, beyond what happens with the hair on your head.

As a woman, I wanted to choose a doctor who has experience with women clients and can make my hair look natural. All my life, I hated my bare forehead, and my hairline receded even more in my forties. I am now in my 50s and finally decided to get a hair transplant. Long story short, I consulted with 3 doctors and chose Dr. Diep. He showed me many client photos that looked amazing.
Now, one year later, I am very happy with my result. My front hairline looks natural, and I don’t have to worry about how to cover it up all the time. My family is also very pleased with my results. Dr. Diep and his staff were very professional. They were very helpful in explaining what the procedure would entail, and how best to take care of the post-op grafts. I met Dr. Diep back in early 2019 in my mid-20s. Dr. Diep initially turned me away as I was too early for a hair transplant, and recommended that I start with first-line medications such as finasteride and minoxidil. Dr. Diep turning me away at first built a lost of trust, and after 3-4 consultations over the years, I felt comfortable he was the right surgeon for me.

5 years later, and I am officially 3-months post op of around 2,300 grafts to my hairline and temples. So far, things post-op have gone smooth. Surgery day was long yet relatively painless. Dr. Diep provided structured post-op instructions that need to be followed religiously to ensure a successful results. It's a marathon, not a sprint, so this is a process you need to be patient with over time.

Dr. Diep offered to have monthly check-ins in person to answer questions and document my progress through photos and videos. He's very supportive, and I know he's a phone call away if I need anything. His staff is always kind and generous, whether it's getting my questions answered by the Doctor himself or filling prescriptions, they've been amazing so far.

My donor area has healed up very nicely, even my barber couldn't tell that I had surgery. In addition, only 90 days post-operation and I am starting to see significant amount sprouting of new hair across the hairline and templates areas. Still a journey ahead but excited for the final result. Will keep you updated on my progress around the 6-month mark.

Originally, I had found Dr. Diep and another hair surgeon around 3-4 years ago, but made a hasty decision and had gotten a FUT hair transplant from the other hair surgeon because she was closer to where I lived, and that did not end well. Not only was my crown area not being filled in as much as I had discussed with that doctor, but that doctor did not seem to have the same artistic styling for drawing out the hairline the way I wanted to and insisted it was not possible for me. I was persuaded by that doctor that I should have a different look and I was not impressed by the outcome and the results were horrible!

After my first failed hair transplant, I did more research and found myself coming back to Dr. Diep. I realized that all of his previous clients became gorgeous works of art and that he and his team took very good care of them from beginning to end. When I came in for my consultation, Dr. Diep did an amazing job on ensuring me that I got to choose whatever hairline I wanted to be drawn out and he would do everything that he would in his power to make my hairline possible. To Dr. Diep, there were almost no limitations on what kind of hairline I could have as long as I had enough donor hair to make it possible. I love the fact that he also ensured me that he could help me fix my scar on the back of my head if there were any problems after the surgery and overall, I found him to be a very trustworthy surgeon after our consultation.

Shortly after my consultation, I was able to get a FUT surgery within a week with Dr. Diep (lucky for me because someone else cancelled and I was able to fill in that spot immediately). The process was very simple and the team took great care of me before, during, and after the surgery. Before the surgery, Dr. Diep wanted to make sure that I was okay with the hairline that we discussed during the consultation and then provided me pain killers for during the surgery. When the surgery started, the staff/ team members made sure I was comfortable and assisted me whenever I needed something. After the surgery, I had some follow-ups where a lot of my questions and concerns regarding the healing process were all answered and they made sure to make me feel re-assured that everything would go well, and if something was wrong, then they would assist me as best as they could to make things right.

It has been about a year now since my surgery and my hairline and crown has grown nicely and very much filled in even a bit more than I was expecting. I do have a thick scar still from the FUT procedure and I can see some spots only slightly open/ thin still, but mostly everything is still above what the first surgeon did for me and the results are overall impeccable. Dr. Diep has also ensured me that he is more than happy to help me do a scar revision after reviewing it in person. Overall, I can't expect perfection out of any surgical procedure, and I was not expecting perfection from the beginning. But I am definitely impressed and happy with the overall results that Dr. Diep has provided to me. He has helped me to gain back a lot of my confidence back!

I have already done a few consultations with other clinics before coming across Dr. Diep and his amazing team. A few notable points that Dr. Diep that really stood out to me during the consultation:

- Instead of just giving you a general hairline, Dr. Diep will make his professional suggestion on what an Asian hairline looks like. Being Asian myself, this was HUGE as some other consultations the doctors didn't even factor that into the conversation.
- On the flip side, Dr. Diep also show example of a patient that wanted a very custom (Elvis like) hairline, he happily did it for them. This shows Dr. Diep is happy to work with the patient's specific requirements.
- Lastly, Dr. Diep ALWAYS, always stressed the importance of having a natural looking hairline from the surgery, and he'll work his magic to archive that.


The above 3 points was what really sold me and put me at ease with Dr. Diep and his team. Once a surgery date is set, Dr. Diep and his team will give you a packet with instructions on what to prep for the week before and day of the surgery, which was super helpful. I went with the FUT procedure and event of the day unfolded as follows.


- Went in to the clinic, changed, got a little explanation of the days proceedings, pick out what to each for lunch, took a pill and fell asleep while the team got to work right away.
- Woke up during lunch time, ate lunch, and went back to sleep.
- Woke up again near end of day, the operation is almost done, the team wrapped up the operation, got a packet of instructions for post surgery and I took an Uber home.


It was really a straight forward process, again only speaking from my experience here, your mileage may vary. I went back to the clinic a week or two later to remove the sutures, and that point the year long recovery journey begins. Hang in there as you should start seeing hair regrowth by the 3rd or 4th month. Now a year later I can finally appreciate the results of this operation and a kickass hairline. :)

I had a FUT procedure with Dr Diep last year and I'm very please with the results. The staff were great and the procedure was very smooth, professional and was done in a single day.

Dr Diep provided very detailed instruction for the pre and post-surgery care and he was very responsive to any of my concerns I had. He also prescribed me a lot of other post-surgery tips to do to maintain and help the overall health of my hair.

I did a lot of research before I choose Dr Diep to perform my hair transplant and I'd recommend him 100%. I have friends who went to Turkey for HT and their results are nowhere near what Dr Diep can provide. I added before/after photos.

I met Dr. John Diep after doing lots of research and was evaluating multiple other clinics at the same time. He gave me lots of confidence from our conversation. He was very patient in explaining the pros and cons of different techniques. I decided to go ahead with his advise (Looking back I am happy I did follow his advise). His team provided all the instruction to prepare for the surgery and I was there in his Los Gatos office early morning. His team asked me to relax and took care of all the initial procedures. It took most part of the day (I was sleeping half the time) and the only painful was sitting idle towards the end as his team was working very carefully. I left the office without any pain with all the medications. The 1st week was little tricky and we made several calls to his office. He has a very experienced team and patiently answered all my queries. The whole vibe in the office is very pleasant. I did have 6 month and yearly check with the Doctor as well.

Overall it was a very positive experience. I am very happy with the results and did not expect it to be it this good.
