Hello. I was given paracetamol of 1 g everytime I feel pain but I have been reading that if you take more than 4 g in a day you could die ? What if I need more than 4 g a day. It hurts. I take anticonceptive pills and escitalopram 10 mg. My doctor obviously knows this but why d he say I can take this 1 g paracetamol everytime I need. Then what if I go up 5 g ?

You should not take more than the maximum recommended dose of 4 g a day.  If the pain persists that needs to be controlled with either a narcotic medication or it needs to be investigated further to find the reason behind the pain.  In the first week after surgery the pain can be expected and stronger medications are used.  However, after the first few weeks of surgery you should not have too much pain.RegardsDr. J

You are right, the maximum recommended daily dose of paracetamol is 4 g. If you take the maximum dose and you still have pain, you should talk to your doctor, who should find out what is the reason for the strong pain, which is unusual after a rhinoplasty, and possibly give you a prescription for a different painkiller.
