Larger eyes without double eyelid surgery? I want to keep monolid. (photos)

Dear Dscummin11,Thank you for your question.It is possible to enlarge your eyes.  You do have ptosis, or drooping, of your eyelids and ptosis surgery performed on both sides could enlarge them so that they were more open and look larger.You may want to consider a double eyelid procedure as it appears you have a partial eyelid fold on the right side.  In combination with ptosis surgery, this would make your eyes appear even larger and in my opinion, it would look even better.Aloha,Shim Ching, MD

The short answer to your question is that yes it is achievable to remove the heaviness and make your eyes appear more open without creating a double eyelid. In fact, I encourage my Asian patients to not create a double eyelid as it often looks unnatural to make that change. I would definitely have the heaviness removed which would include some fat and skin removal to make your eyes more open without giving you a double eyelid. Good luck in your area.

You are asking great questions. I can see that you have asymmetric eyelid folds, and therefore, there is no warrantee that they will be exactly symmetrical after blepharoplasty. It is best to consult an oculofacial plastic surgeon who can evaluate the shape of your eyelids, folds, etc and speak with you about what to expect. Not wvery asian blepharoplasty is aimed at creating a double eyelid.
