Is it normal to have incision on corner of outer eye separate somewhat after upper and lower blepharoplasty?

Hello,This can occur after blepharoplasty and will likely heal without consequence.  Keep it from getting infected and scabbed.  Use an antibacterial ointment made for the eye and it should be fine, but let  your surgeon know so they may advise you and help you through this minor bump in the road to recovery.  Dr. Chow

As surgeons, we hate see this.  It is called a wound dehiscence.  It heals beautifully on its own with minimal care.  The big problem is that it is upsetting to patients like yourself.  It makes you feel like your surgeon did something wrong.  That is simply not the case.  Generally it is best to let these areas close on their own.  It is extremely rare that the scar that will eventually form will need to be revised.  If it is necessary, it should not be considered for at least 6 to 12 months because they tend to get better and better with time.  Generally these heal best when kept moist with ophthalmic ointment.  It the area is getting more inflamed, painful, or associated with a discharge, let your surgeon know immediately.
