I appreciate your question. The size of implant best for you is dictated by yourchest wall measurements. Once we determine that we can choose the profilebased on what you want or need to achieve. If you are seeking a natural look, then the diameter of the implant should be equal to or, more ideally, smallerthan the width of your breast. The breast width is a measurement of how wideyour breast is at the base, which should be measured at the level of thenipple. Choosing an implant that is smaller in diameter than your breast widthwill avoid the "side breast" fullness that is often associated with amore artificial appearance. Other than that, you should choose theimplant based on volume, not on the dimensions of the implant. You shouldchoose a board certified plastic surgeon that you trust to help guide you inthis decision. Silicone will give you a fullness at thetop (upper pole fullness).Silicone implants come pre-filled with asilicone gel and are the softest implant available. They feel more natural, which makes them a good option for women with less natural breast tissue; butthey require a larger incision. It may be more difficult to realize if thistype of implant has ruptured, so it is important to monitor them with annualfollow-up visits. Additionally, because this implant contains a more liquid silicone(less cross-linked), if this implant should rupture, it will leak only into thescar capsule formed around the implant but may cause some discomfort or implantdistortion.Anatomic gummy bear implants might be agood choice to give you volume. These highly-sought-after, anatomicimplants offer a look that more closely resembles the natural silhouette of abreast, and, therefore, are a very attractive option for individuals seeking anatural-looking, aesthetic primary breast augmentation. Additionally, theseimplants are an especially excellent option for patients undergoing restorativeor corrective breast surgery because they provide more stability, shape, andreduced incidence of capsular contracture. Compared to other types of siliconegel implants, the silicone in the cohesive gel implant is more cross-linked;therefore, should the implant shell “rupture,” it maintains its shape andsilicone does not leak.During your breast augmentationconsultation, you should feel the different types of implants available, andtry on various implant sizers in front of a mirror to help you to get an ideaof how you will look following the surgery. You should also bring pictures ofthe look you would like to achieve, as well as a favorite top to wear whentrying on implant sizers. The best way to assess and give trueadvice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plasticsurgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery.Best of luck!Dr. Schwartz
Dear Mary, Front and side view pictures would have been very helpful. The size selection of the implants depends on your chest and breasts circumference measurements, your desired cup size and the elasticity of your tissue. At times, when the tissue is too tight, to become a D cup or larger, might require two stage procedures in order to allow the tissue to stretch and accommodate the implants, by performing implants displacement massage. Doing it in one procedure, might create a very unnatural look , due to excessive fullness of the upper pole of the breasts. Always, consult with board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Check the before and after pictures in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent, attractive and natural looking. Check also the 'realself' reviews for positive experience reports. Best of luck, Dr Widder
Choosing the right size implant depends on any number of factors most of which require an in person exam. So, schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area (link below) so that you can be assessed in person. Best, Dr. Nazarian
Thank you for your question. Without photos and more importantly, an in-person evaluation, it is nearly impossible for me to tell you what would be best. Therefore, I recommend that you be seen in person by a board certified plastic surgeon to determine what would be both best and realistic for you.All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL
I recommend that you go and visit with one or several board certified plastic surgeons. Most plastic surgeons will perform a series of measurements of the chest area to get the best understanding of your tissues and what size implant will best work for you. Skin can only 'stretch' so much with any breast augmentation. In very general terms it is rare to go beyond a "two cup size" expansion, but it really depends on each individual. I hope this helps!
It is best to visit a board certified plastic surgeon for aconsultation to determine the most suitable size based on your measurements anddesired results. The surgeon will take aseries of measurements and provide a range of sizes that could safely be placedin your body. Based on that range, youwill get to choose the size that you feel most comfortable with. It is also helpful to bring a variety ofpictures to your consultation—pictures of breasts that are too large, toosmall, and just right. This allows thesurgeon to fully understand your desired outcome. Real Self and Love Your Look have helpfulonline galleries.
I appreciate your concern, because size does matter when seeking a natural looking result in breast augmentation. I ask my patients to bring in photos of breasts the size they desire, because there can otherwise be confusion because B or C cup can vary greatly by brassiere manufactures! I also utilize the implant in the bra technique, with several different implant sizes with a tighter fitting T-shirt to get an idea of what you will look like. Finally, I prefer to meet with my breast implant patients at least twice before surgery, so I am confident that I know exactly what her desires regarding shape and size are. I then have several sized implants in the patient's desired range available in the OR to allow me to tailor the operation to her needs. Be certain your surgeon understands your desires and you should do great as this operation carries a very high satisfaction rate. Good luck!
The largest implant size you can receive on your first operation depends on your starting breast size and how tight your tissues are at present. If you desire larger breast than your tissues can handle safely...you have a couple of options. Place a tissues expander to slowing stretch the tissues or place the largest implant that your can handle and come back for a second surgery at a later date for exchange to a larger implant. Good Luck.
Hello Maryroman and thanks for this question. The answer has to do with the kind of result you want to achieve, whether natural or fake, your desired cup size and your current breast measurements. Needless to say, a petite woman with small breasts and tight skin might be limited on breast implant size. I suggest you have a consultation and try different sizes on your body to identify what looks more appealing to you. Best, Dr. ALDO.
This requires a careful examination and measurement of your skin, chest, underlying soft tissue, and elasticity. Your PS will be able to give you a sense of this from examination. If there is a 3D imaging system available this can help you visualize the appearance (although it is a simulation). Additionally, it is always possible to do a secondary procedure and upsize after the tissues have settled and stretched after the first surgery.
If you are having it done 3 months prior to your surgery you will be just fine. Good luck with your breast augmentation! If you would like more information regarding breast augmentation you can download a free copy of my breast augmentation planner at ABetterBreast.com.
Thank you for your question and photo. You didn't mention when you had your surgery but, judging by your photo and the surgical dressing it appears that your surgery was recent. At this point, it is normal to experience burning or pain at the incision. This can be attributed to inflammation...
The numbness may be related to the tube that was put in your throat for anesthesia. Best to discuss with your surgeon.
