I am scheduled to have surgery in two weeks and my doctor gave me a diet sheet that he is recommending I follow to minimize complications. One of the diet restrictions is no apples two weeks prior to and after surgery. What is wrong with apples and what could happen?

Answer: No apples before breast aug Thanks for your question. I do not personally request that my patients refrain from apples for 2 weeks before and after surgery. However, it is best to always follow the pre and post operative instructions for your particular surgeon. In addition to reading the responses here on RealSelf it is always a good idea to discuss questions like this with your surgeon prior to surgery. They might have another reason for why they have the instructions they do. Best of luck!

Answer: Apples If you love apples...then eat the apples. Aside from alcohol use leading up to surgery, I do not employ any strict diet restrictions. I recommend a stool softener starting the day of surgery and continuing until you are off of narcotic pain medication to combat any constipation risk. Good Luck.
