I realize a week post op is very soon to be unhappy with results. With that being said, most women think they are too big right after surgery, I do not feel that way, I feel like they have hardly any projection and I want to know once the implants settle over the next weeks and months will they settle from the top of my chest to the lower part of my breast? I have my first post op appointment tomorrow but would also like some insight from others.
Answer: Drop & Fluff Hello,Thank you for your question. In the weeks immediately following breast augmentation, especially with under the muscle placement, swelling and tightness can compress the implant volume up and outward for a time. Along with giving the appearance of high, rectangular breasts, this can make them appear smaller temporarily. You will need to allow a full 6 months to see the breast volume settled in and softened. This process is often called "Drop & Fluff" Try to be patient and wait until 6 months to evaluate your results.Take care

Answer: High riding implants after breast augmentation. This is a very typical appearance one week after surgery. Your plastic surgeon may recommend a wrap to wear over the top of the breasts until they settle. As the implants go down into their "pockets", the projection of the lower breast will improve. This can take weeks to months to occur. Sometimes, a revision is required to release the lower tissues within the pocket if the implants remain high. Best to discuss at your next visit.

Answer: 425cc under the muscle implants. 1 week post op, will I get more projection once the implants settle? I appreciate your question. Right now, you are very early on in the post op recovery period. It will take 3-6 months for you to feel comfortable having implants in your body and for them to settle. This time allows for you to physically and psychologically adapt to your new body image. There are many variables that contribute to a breast augmentation's final result. Preop size and shape, IMF location, location of the implants and type of implant. Patients heal at different rates and each breast will sometimes heal at a different rate. Rest, relax, recover and heal. Please Express your concerns to your surgeon so he/she can examine you. Then reassess final result at 6 months. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery. Best of luck! Dr. Schwartz

Answer: Postoperative recovery When I meet with my patients prior to surgery we discuss the recovery period including time to fully see your results, massage and the correct bra to allow shaping and the size you desire. Most important the patients are told to be patient because things improve dramatically.

Answer: Be patient I know it's hard to come out of surgery and not have your breasts look the way that you want immediately, but your body is healing. It can take anywhere from 3-6 months for your breasts to fully heal and drop/settle so their look will change daily. For now, be patient and kind to your body as it heals. Best, Dr. Nazarian
