I would wait at least one more month to make sure that healing is absolutely complete before you go surfing. Dr. ES
Thank you for your question. I would recommend that you wait at least 6 weeks until you are fully healed before returning to any strenuous activities.
The only person that should be answering this question is your surgeon. Most patients are back to full athletic activity in about three months. However, there's always the possibility of extenuating circumstances.
I usually wait 6 weeks to start to allow more strenuous activity. Allowing more strenuous activity and being able to do it is two different things.
One month is quite a bit early to begin doing things as strenuous as surfing, and I would probably advise a patient to wait longer. Keep in mind, however, everyone heals differently and therefore it is best to wait until your surgeon gives the OK to return to full normal activity as they can evaluate you in person.– Dr. Ortiz
Although the incisions have reached 90% of their ultimate strength by 6 weeks, and that is the time frame for return to "full activity" I prefer an extra months for potentially hazardous activities, among which surfing is included. But do check with your surgeon who knows what was done and has followed your recovery. All the best.
At one month post-op from a full TT, I typically require at least 6-8 weeks to resume strenuous activity. Surfing requires strong abdominal muscles for balance, etc so I would recommend waiting at least 8 weeks and slowing working your way up, but definitely check with your surgeon before doing anything. ac
That is great that your recovery is going smoothly . . . my advice is to keep it that way! It will take a full 10 - 12 weeks in my opinion before you should attempt the rigorous kind of activity that surfing will demand. And that is notwithstanding the obvious risk of being in the ocean with the hazards that presents. I would keep the activity light until your muscle completely heals, and that may take 8 - 10 weeks itself. Only then would I BEGIN to carefully add back in more advanced activities like surfing.
For vigorous activities such as surfing I would not chance it for at least 8 weeks. Of course, the ultimate source for this information is your plastic surgeon. Get clearance first, better safe than sorry.
The muscle repair strength reaches about 80 to 90% of its normal strength after 6 to 8 weeks. So too much strenuous activity before that time may disrupt healing. Easy swimming could be started after 4 to 6 weeks if the incisions are fully healed. However, surfing requires use of your abdominal muscles so waiting 2 months may be reasonable. It is best to start slowly until you regain your strength.
Hello there I think this is just a line of tension from the tightening of skin and muscle wall during the surgery . You are very early after surgery and these things usually resolve over the next few months . You have fairly severe stretch marks in the skin around the belly button . A...
Symptomatic excess skin of the abdomen can only be treated by surgical excision. This is traditionally referred to as an abdominoplasty or panniculectomy.
Thank you for your question. It is very unlikely to develop a hernia in the upper abdomen following a tummy tuck. It is more likely that the muscle repair separated or you have a small collection of fat or fluid following the liposuction. This can be sorted out with an ultrasound or scan of the...
Thank you for your question. Some surgeons remove the BB, but other than cosmetic concerns, there is no real good use for one. Discuss this with your surgeon. I hope this helps.
I'm not sure why you went to a foreign country for something as significant as an abdominoplasty. Now that you have a complication it somewhat unfair to inflict yourself on a plastic surgeon in Houston. They certainly are capable of helping you with a problem but you should expect to pay.
It's always important to ask your treating surgeon these specific types of activities. For my patients, I typically recommend waiting at least 3 months before any isolated abdominal exercises.
