7 years post op, tremendous amount of pain in breast and shoulder blade. Opinions?

The answer may be a capsular contracture or it could be something else. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

Hello, thank you for sharing. You should have to see your family doctor examine you and hear about your symptoms. Pain from the implants can occur, however to have sudden onset of pain and pain with breathing is pretty odd especially after 7 years from your breast augmentation. It is important to first rule out other possibilities that can be creating these symptoms. Chest xray and other diagnostic tests maybe warranted. It can just be from lifting something or over straining that arm that can be the cause of the pain. Sometimes acid reflux can cause those symptoms, or possible costocondritis, pinched nerve etc. It is better to see your family doctor and rule out possibilities.

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

I would suggest being seen by your medical doctor to see what is the problem. A capsule will not cause pain in your back.

I'm sorry to hear about your discomfort. This could be related to many things, including having nothing at all to do with your implants. I encourage you to visit with your surgeon for an evaluation of your symptoms.

Pain like that can be numerous things including liver, diaphragm, abdominal pain can refer to the right shoulder. I would make an appointment to be seen by your primary care or your plastic surgeon and they may suggest a further work up. This may not be your breast implant. Best of luck! Dr. Boschert

I'm sorry to hear of your distress.
Pleuritic pain is described as chest and shoulder pain, exacerbated by deep breathing.
This may have nothing to do with the breast augmentation and may represent a pneumothorax.
It would be wise to seek medical evaluation in an ER ASAP to ensure your safety. Once this has been ruled out, a complete evaluation by a board certified plastic surgeon is recommended.

Your symptoms including shortness of breath are concerning! If the pain is severe, you should go immediately to an emergency room for an evaluation which may include lab studies, a chest x-ray and or a CAT scan. Make certain this is not a lung problem! Without an examination, implant contracture pain can not be assessed.

You could start thereafter with an immediate visit to your plastic surgeon to help you diagnose and treat your painful problem if there is no evidence of a pulmonary issue...
