I am planning on having a 360 Lower body lift and an arm lift. This will be done in the US by a board certified Plastic Surgeon while in a hospital OR and I will also stay overnight afterwards with extra precautions taken for blood clots and wound healing. I am completely healthy and have been at a stable weight for 5+ years. I am just wondering if 8hrs is OK? Thanks for your Help!
Answer: 360 circumferential lower body lift 8 hours under anesthesia belt abdominoplasty massive weight loss arm lift Hi Ab76307, Thank you for your questions regarding the safety of an eight hour plastic surgery procedure under anesthesia. Yes, I believe eight hours under anesthesia is relatively safe and "low risk" for complications. Nothing is without risk. As long as you are healthy and cleared by your medical internist, I believe you would be low risk for complications under anesthesia. During your 360 circumferential lower body lift and arm lift, I would suggest sequential compression devices to minimize blood clots. After your 360 circumferential lower body lift and arm lift, I would suggest sequential compression devices and blood thinners for at least one to two weeks. Postoperatively, eating 100 g of protein a day is also important for wound healing. I am glad you chose a US board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck! If you have any further questions regarding a 360 circumferential lower body lift or an arm lift, please contact my office. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen.

Answer: Talk with your PS! Thank you for your question, congratulations on achieving your goal, anesthesia time varies according to the procedures to be performed. Each patient must undergo surgical evaluations to determine if the patient is fit to perform the surgery. Normally when performing a body lifting after a weight loss the time in surgery is extended. Nevertheless, all of your concerns should be discussed with your doctor before the procedure. Good luck.

Answer: It’s safe Thanks for your question, ab76307! Long anesthetic times are quite common in complex plastic surgeries like a lower body lift, so you have nothing to worry about as long as you’re healthy. It’s good that you’re choosing a board-certified and experienced plastic surgeon as he can discuss with you everything about your surgery, including the risks of general anesthesia. Good luck on your upcoming surgery!

Answer: Lower body lift and arm lift Congratulations on your decision and thank you for the question! It sounds safe that you chose a board certified surgeon with experience in these procedures and you will also stay in hospital, with the relevant precautions being already discussed with you. You also said that you don't have any other medical conditions. The anaesthetic and surgical risk can be assessed with appropriate history and examination, which I cannot perform without a proper consultation.Your body mass index is one of the very important factors in deciding the suitability for long and extensive surgery. What you need to do is do your homework, make sure that you trust your surgeon, discuss all the details, and follow the preoperative and postoperative instructions, from garments, medication, visits, dressing changes to any special precautions. The best of luck!
