Open wounds - 3 weeks after breast reduction. Is this normal? Is it an infection? (Photo)

II am 3 weeks post operation yesterday. I had a breast reduction and now I have open wounds. My stitches were taken out on the 10th day. I have sent pics to my surgeon but he insists it isn't an infection and that I should remain doing as I am. know my body well enough to know something isn't ok. What should I do? Do I cover them back up whilst healing or let them breathe?

Insurance companies demand a certain combination of measurements and possibly photograph to determine whether or not they will cover breast reduction if at all. You can submit this yourself if you want to hasten the process.

Each case like yours has to be considered individually.  If your breasts are extremely large and uncomfortable, performing a breast reduction at your age is not unreasonable.  However, you would need parental permission, so you should discuss the issue with your parents.

It is not uncommon to undergo this procedure as a teenager with your parent's consent.  Virginal hypertrophy is more likely the cause and a breast reduction should help you.
