Juvederm + water. If I drink a lot of water, will it add more volume?

Question

I just got Juvederm injected into my nose. My nose isn't swollen. The doctor told me that I will see the final result after a few days to 1 week since Juvederm absorbs water from the tissues which might add a bit more volume. My question might be stupid but do you think it will help if I drink a lot of water so it adds more volume? Thank you.

It can never hurt to keep your body hydrated. Better for your health. However, I don't think it will make a difference with your Juvederm injection results. Best, Dr. Nazarian

These are very small volumes of water absorption we are talking about so increased intake will not help.

Hello Thevy,It is true that Juvederm will absorb water from the surrounding tissue but drinking more water will not affect this.  If you were hoping for more volume then injecting more material will be of benefit.  I would wait at least 2 weeks before considering any further injections to see the final result with your current injection.  I hope this helps and good luck.

Good question, although Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid filler which will absorb water from the surrounding tissue, drinking more water is not going to give you added volume in the area. The only way to achieve more volume would be by getting additional filler into the area or using a higher volume filler such as Juvederm ultra plus or Voluma.

There is no evidence that drinking more water will make Juvederm absorb more water.  The skin and other tissues are full of water and drinking more water should not make any difference.  I do think that it's good for general health to stay well hydrated.

That is a very good question! No, drinking water will not enhance the amount of water that Juvederm absorbs and does not have the ability to increase the amount of volume you get with the filler. To get increased volume, you will need further filler injected.  Take care!

Great question, I can totally see why patients would think that.  yes, juvederm absorbs water in the first few days, but it is just water in the surrounding tissues.  Theoretically, if you were REALLY dehydrated, it might not absorb as much water.  Being hydrated can never hurt, so go ahead and drink some H20.
