Hi, I have regular lip injections using Juverderm. (I'm 28 year old female) I find that every evening my lips start to feel slightly fuller and then every morning my lips swell slightly. Is this normal? The swelling only lasts for about an hour or so and is minimal so not that noticeable but thought I would check if this is fairly normal? Thanks Emma.
Answer: Swelling After Juvederm Into Lips this is a common reaction to certain types of fillers. you can reverse the fillers or take daily antihistamines to help. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Swelling can be normal after lip injections Thanks for your question, and it is quite normal to have some swelling and the feeling of full lips for the first few weeks after a lip injection of any HA filler – like Juvederm. Many use Belotero or Restylane Silk these days in the lips, but all can cause some lip swelling. Ice can usually alleviate this, in most people. I always recommend patients have these injections given in the offices of board-certified dermatologists or plastic surgeons as we are the true experts on all of these products, how best to inject them, and how best to handle any untoward events. This concern should go away quickly; if it persists, go back to your injector and make sure things look correct.

Answer: Swelling/Bruising/Lumpiness (early) from Fillers I always tell my patients to not love their filler injections for 2 weeks. Swelling is very common and sometimes immediate. It can last 3-7 days and a good idea is to use cold compresses. Cold compresses may be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling only if needed. This may be applied for 3 minutes, 3 times per day, for up to 3 days. This is best done with a bag of peas in a zip lock bag. Only apply light pressure to the area but gentle massage might be necessary if the bump is from the filler material itself. Get Arnica gel if you can find some and apply a few times a day as well to help treat any swelling. Avoid any blood thinners. Bruising can also last 1-2 weeks. I don't recommend hyaluronidase this early and wait a few weeks until the swelling has resolved. If it is persistent or you are worried, set up a follow up appointment with your dermatologist.
