Thank you for your picture and questions. Sorry to hear about the outcome after surgery and the resulting scar. At this point, 1 year out from the procedure, there might not be many non-invasive options for treating the scar. You can certainly try silicone gel/sheeting, microneedling, steroid/5FU injections, laser treatments, etc. These might help improve the appearance and feel/look of the scar but are not going to be miraculous changes. At this point, your best option is probably a surgical scar revision.Hope this helps!Dallas Buchanan, MDVIVIFY plastic surgeryTampa, FL
Thank you for your inquiry! You would be a great candidate for a scar revision procedure. Scar creams can be also used on scars to minimize appearance as well as silicone scar sheets. Lasers such as Microneedling can be performed to minimize appearance as well. We would love to see you in person or virtually for a consult to discuss treatment/surgical options.
Dear Rational278015,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Based on your photo, it looks like you would benefit from scar revision. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Abdominoplasty scars can be quite complex, ranging from the simple hypertrophic scar to a multiplane inflamed keloid. Pigmentation, discoloration, chronic inflammation, scar visibility can all occur in the short term. We begin each treatment with combination therapy using Yellow broadband BBL, Vbeam, fractional erbium, intralesional IIT, and scar modulation. Start with a combination of Plato's Scar Serum massaged twice daily after one week of epithelialization followed by Luminase/Exfolase. Scar consultation and revision may be recommended. Application of scar tapes and injection of corticosteroids should be the first line of treatment. Scar revision should come next. You should discuss these options with your surgeon. Good luck.
Yes, the scar can be revised to make it smaller and micro-needling can be started about 6 weeks later to encourage it to heal nicely. Scar products can also be used.
As it has been a year since your procedure you can consider scar revision. Essentially the existing scar tissue is removed with the anticipation that the new scar will heal more favorably. I've included a video I hope you find helpful.
Dear Rational,You would benefit greatly from a scar revision procedure. Speak to your plastic surgeon to discuss. Good luck!
Based on your posted, photo surgical scar revision with layered closure is best option, followed by silicon, cheating, and possible copper peptide serum. Best of virtual concert with. Fee for revision $3500. Best of virtual consult with.
Go back to your surgeon and discuss your concerns and options for a revision. More skin could probably be removed in the inferior aspect.
