Over 1 year post-op & not happy with tummy tuck/loose skin & bunching - is this grounds for a revision? (Photos)

Had a tummy tuck over a year ago still hate how my stomach looks the skin is lose and bunches up. I feel like this needs revision, can you let me know if I’m being picky of if this is grounds for getting revision?

HelloYou have wide stretch marks that have risen so high (above the belly button) that they cannot be removed during a tummy tuck. These stretch marks can cause loose skin after surgery. Additionally, in a Classic Abdominoplasty, unlike in Lipoabdominoplasty, no fat is removed from the abdomen. As a result, it is possible for the lower abdomen to appear as though fat has accumulated after the procedure. I recommend Vaserlipo along with excision of the skin from both the lower abdomen and pubic area. This is necessary to prevent the belly button from sagging too low.

It is likely that revision may be needed to improve current result: aggressive liposuction of entire abdomen should be the first step, possibly combined with additional skin excision? Only on the basis of in person evaluation one could give you more elaborate plan of treatment. Good luck.

Go back to your surgeon and discuss your concerns and options for a revision.  More skin could probably be removed in the inferior aspect.

An in person evaluation is best, but it appears from the photos that you would have some improvement with a revision.  Further skin can excised and the bunching can be smoothed out some.  See a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.

To evaluate things properly one needs to see your preoperative pictures. When we all sit down as in the pictures, there is always going to be some folds of skin in the lower abdomen even in the skinniest person and this is normal. Don't know if you had liposuction of the abdomen or how much at the time of the abdominoplasty. When you are standing the folds go away. Perhaps a little more liposuction would help and perhaps a revision with more skin removed would help a little. It is up to you to make the decision.
