After the treatment there may be some bruising and localized pain at the injection sites. Then the forehead can feel tight. Eventually you will not notice.
Thank you for your question. Over the first 3 days you may feel nothing. Typically between 3 days - 2 weeks you will feel the relaxation of your muscles. At 2 weeks your full effects should be settled. Best,
Immediately after treatment with Botox, you may have mild swelling at the site of injection for about thirty minutes (I like to call them "mosquito bites") but you should not have any chance in sensation. Any numbness is unusual, and should be evaluated by your physician.
There should be no changes in your facial sensation from botox treatments. If you are concerned, please speak to your treating physician. Best, Dr. Emer.
There may be minor discomfort in the Botox-treated areas but prolonged pain or numbness would be unusual. It would be best to consult your injector if your are having any protracted symptoms.
Botox doesn’t cause true numbness in the sense of anabsence of physical sensation, because Botox is not an anesthetic. Numbness orchanges in feeling or sensation as the result of the inability to move a muscleis an issue for some people. And theeffects are temporary.
Right after the injections there is a little swelling and sometimes this can feel like numbness. Bruising beneath the skin can also occur and cause tenderness to touch. This should all subside over a few days and then the only feeling left should be a sense of relaxation in the treated muscles. If the forehead is "over" treated it may feel heavy and this usually starts to subside around 4 weeks. Good luck.
You should not have any abnormal tingling or numbness in the regions that the botox was injected. Occasionally, as the botox starts taking effect, patients will describe a heavy sensation due to the lack of movement when they attempt to use the muscles of facial expression. If you are feeling something different than this I would recommend going back to the physician that treated with with botox.
The most common thing I hear patients speak of is a feeling of heaviness, but this is very rare and only lasts a day or two. Beyond that I don't really hear of any other issues. I would check with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, he / she might want to re-evauate you to ensure injections were placed correctly and there are no other problems.Good LuckStephen M.
