I have three kids and am still nursing my 16 month old. I never even noticed these until i pulled the skin up to look and saw these tiny 0.5 cm long and very very thin thread like purple veins? They almost line the bra line but about an inch further down. I have a few other random ones on my stomach, on the underside of my other breast and on my shoulder area. I have light, pale thin skin. How can I get rid of these? What causes them? Is under the bra line a common place?
Answer: Sclerotherapy vs. Surgery for spider and varicose veins Laser therapy has evolved to address small and medium sized abnormal veins. In fact, endovenous laser therapy is useful for the management of varicose-vein associated venous insufficiency. Sclerotherapy using foam sclerosants are ideal for the treatment of minimally-refluxing varicosities and reticular veins. In our office, we combine these less-invasive modalities with microphlebectomy and vein surgery in order to minimize scarring and remove unsightly varicosities. Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Veins after pregnancy It is very difficult to see the veins on the picture posted since it does not allow for zooming in. Nonetheless, spider and reticular veins can often enlarge during pregnancy and may remain enlarged afterwards. Since you are breastfeeding, treatment is not recommended at this time. Wait at least six months after delivery and several months after you are done breastfeeding since it is possible these might resolve on their own. If they don't shrink on their own, then an evaluation by a vein specialist can determine whether sclerotherapy or laser treatment is the best option for these veins.

Answer: A couple of options I agree with Dr. Landi on a few points. First, and most obviously, the veins you are concerned about do not show up well in the photo. I would ask someone to take a close up photo (macro mode) to get a more accurate representation of these veins. Assuming they are small spider veins (1-3mm) they can certainly resolve or at least improve after pregnancy. So I would agree to hold off on any treatments now, one because you may be breast feeding, and two because you may ultimately not need any treatment at all. Sclerotherapy may be an option, but given that the veins are not on your legs, laser treatment may be another option as well. Bottom line: take some new photos that are closer up, and hold off on treatment for now.

Answer: Bra line veins Often, when you are pregnant your veins engorge and look much larger. Since this is in the area of your breasts, and you are still breast feeding this could be still due to the enlargement of your breasts from the pregnancy and breast feeding. It is hard to see what you are talking about. I would give it some time for this to resolve. After pregnancy, we recommend waiting 6 to 8 weeks before treating any veins in the legs and not breast feeding. Since you are still breast feeding, I would recommend that you wait until you are finished breast feeding and give your breasts some time to go back down to normal and see if the veins resolve. If they don't resolve and they are very small, I would recommend a cutaneous laser to help them. If they are blue or slightly larger sometimes, we will inject small localized areas of these.

Answer: Spider and reticular veins. The posted picture does not show the veins well. Spider veins and reticular veins can occur after pregnancy. I would not recommend any treatment at this time since you are breastfeeding. After the breast feeding has ceased, these veins may resolve on their own. If not, and they concern you, then see a vein specialist.
