When can I use Lasix after a tummy tuck?

Thank you for your question.  In most cases of a tummy tuck the degree of swelling is not that severe that Lasix would need to be administered to help reduce it.  Your body will gradually absorb the excess water weight and you will urinate it off.  If you have a predisposing medical condition that would require lasix, however, your surgeon will best be able to tell you when to restart it.  Hope this helps.

I do not typically prescribe Lasix to my patients after surgery. It can cause dehydration and other secondary issues. Your body will get rid of the fluid normally in due time. Fluid retention will not cause stretch marks. You should talk with your plastic surgeon before contemplating its use.Best wishes,Dr. Ravi Somayazula 

I would not recommend Lasix be used in an otherwise healthy patient following a tummy tuck.  The swelling and water weight will resolve on its own, naturally over time.  The use of Lasix can or may lead to other complications.
