I am planning on getting a septoplasty to fix my deviated septum, I also want to get a sliding genioplasty while I'm making changes to fix my recessed chin. Would that be the best course of action or is there a better way to make the changes I want? I'm getting the septoplasty regardless of any chin fixes because I can barely breathe out of my right nostril.
Answer: Rhinoplasty Rhinoplasty and chin surgery can offer the best results. The amount of chin recession that you have can effectively be corrected with a silicone chin implant. A genioplasty is an option but the same result can be achieved with a chin implant and less surgery. Good luck

Answer: Septoplastuy and chin augmentation Based on your photos it seems that chin augmentation, whether sliding genioplasty or implant would be a good solution. Both procedures (septoplasty and chin augmentation) should be done in the same time providing that your surgeon is comfortable with it. Good luck.

Answer: Genioplasty plus septoplasty, what is my best option to fix a deviated septum? A rhinoplasty is performed to straighten the crooked nose from the external appearance, is considered cosmetic and must be paid for by the patient. A septoplasty is performed on the internal portion of the nose to improve airflow only. A septoplasty will not change the shape of the nose from the external appearance. Consider placement of a chin implant to augment the chin forward to help with facial balance and proportions, especially with respect to the weak and recessive chin profile. A chin implant can be performed under local anesthesia as a standalone procedure, or in combination with the septoplasty under general anesthesia. Both of these procedures are outpatient surgical procedures. A genioplasty is performed by an oral surgeon under general anesthesia in a hospital setting with an overnight stay, and is significantly more invasive. A genioplasty is usually perform when the teeth are significantly out alignment. For more information and many examples of chin implants, please see the link and the video below

Answer: Sliding genioplasty while I'm making changes to fix my recessed chin. Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over 30 years. From the photos, your chin is quite weak. When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy, the lower face looks short, de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a "double chin". Proper placement of a silastic chin implant adds forward projection to the chin thereby creating harmony and balance to the lower face. Using the same incision, liposuction can be performed to reduce the fat and further shape the neck. Excess skin, from below the chin, can also be removed through the same incision. I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty (requires extensive tissue dissection, bone cuts and placement of metal screws and plates to secure the cut segments of bone). I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone. In my opinion, you are a good candidate for chin implant surgery. This can be at he same time as your Septoplasty or separately as a local case using local anesthetic. Hope this helps.
