For How Long After Rhinoplasty the Tampon Should Last in Nose?

Nasal Packing After Rhinoplasty...To Pack or Not to Pack, That is the Question

Hi Numbers,

I prefer to not use any packing in the nose after performing rhinoplasty on my patients.  Many rhinoplasty surgeons have been trained to empirically place packing inside the nose after rhinoplasty.  Instead of using nasal packing, we use a quilting suture in the nasal septum.  In very rare cases where packing is used, it is removed after 48 hours.  Good luck and be well.

Nasal packing is removed at the discretion of the surgeon.

Most rhinoplasties require packing for no more than a day. Your surgeon placed the tampon in your nose for a reason. Follow his advice.
