im about 6years post rhinoplasty... i did not get tip work done and now all the sudden i have extra skin growth in my nostril... i dont think it has to do with my previous rhino only because its been so long but the rhino i had done was to remove a bump in my bridge and i still have a slight bump on one side of my bridge... my question is what would cause this extra skin and what are my options to get it fixed?
Answer: Revision, some advices: Thank you very much for sharing your concerns about your Rhinoplasty with us.After having analyzed all the info and photos provided to us, i recommend to perform a Secondary Rhinoplasty (not a tip revision) this means (basically) treat the nasal bones and the nasal cartilages. Therefore i would perform a narrowing of the nasal base (nose osteotomy) and alar and triangular cartilage shaping.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Answer: The extra skin in your right nostril may be due to a deviated nasal septum. The bulge you're seeing at the base of your nose is likely the foot-plate of your right medial crus - normal columellar cartilage that is seen bulging on your right. Prominence and asymmetry in the midline base of the nose is typically from a deviated nasal septum, but an examination would be necessary to be certain. The base view of your nose is least important from an aesthetic standpoint, so whether you want to have this repaired is primarily elective, unless it is causing functional breathing issues, or if it is due to something else. The small profile bump seen on your right oblique photo may be well suited for camouflage with a non-surgical rhinoplasty with Silikon-1000, an off label filler for permanent results.Hope this is helpful for you.Dr Joseph

Answer: Rhinoplasty Thank you for your question. I suggest you consult with the board certified facial plastic surgeon who performed your surgery to learn more about the original surgery, and then discuss the potential to move forward. A Rhinoplasty procedure can address the extra skin growth in a much smaller and less involved procedure than you experienced in the full Rhinoplasty. Best wishes,

Answer: Extra skin? What you are seeing is most likely due to the foot plates or medial crura being pushed out by the septum. Best to be seen in person.

Answer: Rhinoplasty healing Thank you for the question and photos. Extra skin usually doesn't occur so I suspect you may be seeing the underlying cartilage pushing the skin out. Since the area of concern is not clear you will be served well by consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon and having him/her take a look at the area that you are referring to. Once this occurs the cause of the issue can be identified which will allow an understanding of the solution that must occur to address the issue.I hope this helps. All the best,Dr. Remus Repta
