I am day 11 post op from inferior capsulorrhaphy repair on one breast. It looks PERFECT now. I can see where tissue was sutured up and it’s holding so far. In your experiences, if all is good by this point can we conclude it was a success? My activity will be limited for several more weeks, I know this, but I feel like I'm holding my breath waiting to see it drop low again. When can I stop worrying? Thanks!
Answer: Inferior capsulorrhaphy Dear Breezy, Posting your before and after, front and side view pictures would have been helpful. Congratulation on the successful outcome of your surgery. It is very important that you wear a bra with a wire for 2-3 month, in order to allow the scar at the crease to strengthen. Obviously, avoid strenuous activity , heavy lifting and sex for at least 6-8 weeks. It takes 1 years for the scar to mature, however if after 3-4 months you do not have a relapse of the bottoming out, you can relax, because after that period of time the scar is strong enough to hold on. Best of luck, Dr Widder

Answer: The short answer is 3 months At this point you can be confident that the surgical was a success in positioning your implant where you want it. But it will take at least three months to see whether your body will keep the implant there.

Answer: Capsulorrhaphy Typically after repair of a breast implant pocket it is wise to allow the tissue/repair to heal without any undue stress. The breast will need good support with a bra. While it is typical to return to exercise by 6 weeks after a first-time augmentation, I would lean more towards 12 weeks after a pocket revision, depending on the situation.By then your should have a pretty good assurance that it is not dropping again, but we usually can not stop "holding our breath" to some extent until around the 6 month mark.Thank you and good luck!

Answer: You can ease your worrying I would say that 11 mos is a good indicator that your breasts will be stable for a long time. I would not worry excessively about a problem that may occur in the future. Enjoy your results and not think about any potential problems. If they happen, then I'm sure you will have the information and the confidence to make a wise decision then.

Answer: When can I be comfortable that a breast inferior capsulorraphy will be solid? This is a very important question to ask, since there are times when an inferior breast capsulorraphy has to be done to support and elevate the breast fold of a given breast. What supports the breast properly is a structural solidness below a breast that is based on a complex scar network that is designed to effect the overall appearance and balance. To bring about this and rely on its strength I believe between 6 months and 1 year has been proven to be the best time to evaluate and protect this new position. The best recommendation will be to follow up with your Plastic Surgeon. Good luck to you.Frank Rieger M.D. Tampa Plastic Surgeon
