No. The thinner patient requires an expert at liposuction to remove as much fat as possible while leaving the skin smooth. There are a lot of women who can get nice results despite thinking that there is not enough fat.Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Thank you for your question. BBL is a safe procedure, even for a thinner patient, as long as it is done by an experienced surgeon. This includes liposuction from unwanted areas of fat with transfer to the hip and glute area to sculpt your desired shape. The amount of transfer will be dependent on the amount of fat that can be removed. I would recommend a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your goals. Thank you for your question. Overall, it depends on what you mean by "danger." If you mean a surgical complication such as death, then no, I do not think that risk is higher. However it is important to note that the BBL procedure is very risky with a death rate of 1 in 3,000. If you mean "danger" in the sense of poor outcomes, then yes, thinner patients tend to have a higher risk of contour deformities from liposuction. Without a doubt, you want to make sure the surgeon you are seeing is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and accept nothing less!Hope this helps!Dallas R. Dear Fabulous6322,no, there is no significant difference in risk of complications. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hello dear! Thanks for the question and provided information as well.An experienced surgeon should have no problems placing the fat between the skin and the muscle, even if you have little fat.l recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals and anything you need to know.Good luck :)
There is no scientifically evidence to say that a BBL procedure is more dangerous on thin patients.
You raise an excellent topic. Personally I believe the layer of tissue between the gluteal muscle and skin is thin and in reality too thin to give impressive BBL results without grafting any fat into the underlying muscle layer. Of course an attempt should always be made to be as safe as possible. Lots of plastic surgeons claim to not graft fat into muscle but there has been studies showing fat grafted in the muscle despite operative reports stating no fat was grafted in the muscle. In reality the layer of fat which is all we have to graft into on a thin person is not sufficient to support high volume grafts. In that sense a thin person has a higher chance of having fat grafted into the gluteal muscle whether on purpose or accidentally. I'm assuming you're referring to the single complication of fat embolism since this is typically what most people are concerned about and the only complication that is relevant to what you described. No, BBL is not more dangerous for a thin person, however, it means we have to try to harvest fat from more areas of your body. A technique we use is called, HD Lipo 360, which lets us harvest as much fat as possible from your body for your BBL. Without pictures, if you are a good candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), the optimal outcomes are achieved with: 1) use of VASER liposuction to harvest the fat, 2) a closed looped system such as Puregraft to process the fat, and 3) strategic micro-packet transplant technique. These three processes have demonstrated over 95% fat graft take. This means that your results will be stable as long as you maintain your weight. As an official VASER trainer, I am routinely referred unhappy BBL patients. One of the most common reasons for disgruntled BBL patients is that patients are not able to accurately communicate their desired buttocks goals to their surgeons. A buttocks assessment tool can be an invaluable tool to communicate to your surgeon the exact buttocks size and shape you are desiring. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a BBL specialist can help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing.Respectfully,Arian Mowlavi MD,FACSRealself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee

Patients being worried about liposuction results within the first two weeks is probably the number one post on real self. Personally I tell my patients to not look in the mirror for the first 3 to 4 weeks because it only makes people upset. Sounds familiar? Nothing looks correct two week...
