Fever and pain after liposuction. 3 weeks post op?

Question

Over the weekend I had a moderate fever, (had no thermometer) a headache, and slight caugh. I am 3 weeks lipo post op. It is now Tuesday and I have no fever but a lot of pain where I had liposuction. Bad enough to call doc?

.infection after liposuction is extremely unlikely. It is however possible andthis combination of symptoms after liposuction demands the evaluation of your surgeon.

Usually an infection at the surgical site will develop toward the end of the first week, but can occur later in some circumstances.  Let your surgeon know about your symptoms so he/she can evaluate the treated area to see if you have signs of an infection that might need treatment.  You might also contact your primary care doctor for a general evaluation to make sure nothing else is going on.

It's very important
that you call your PS if you're not feeling well. I'm not saying you caught an
infection during surgery, but still... It's is very important you're healthy
BEFORE and AFTER surgery.
