Do facial fillers stretch and sag the skin over time?

Do fillers in the cheeks and jaw make the skin stretch and sag over time. I am only 22 but want a more defined look. If I start fillers now will my face look a mess in later years?

Thank you for your question! Proper technique and product amount will ensure that your skin does not become saggy over time. The collagen production stimulated by some fillers will continue to reverse the signs of aging.

The idea of facial dermal fillers is to replace lost volume in the face, by creating a natural enhancement there should be no stretching of the skin. Dermal fillers can stimulate collagen production so should help reduce skin laxity.

Thank you for your question.  Dermal filler injections to the cheeks and jaw do not cause saggy skin over time but rather promote the production of collagen.  Aging, environmental factors and genetics are a few factors that cause skin laxity.  Best of luck.

Thankyou for your question. This is a great question as if the injecting is done to produce a natural result then no it doesn't affect the skin laxity. If however you are over injected and the skin is stretched then it may very well affect the skin long term. I believe we are seeing some of these affects with lips.  Hope this helps.

Thanks for your question. Quite the contrary. The skin tension created internally has an effect on the cells surrounding the filler which leads to greater skin tone. Long term this results in more youthful looking skin even if fillers are discontinued. So don’t worry. However, like all things fillers have to be used appropriately. Speak to a board certified plastic surgeon if you decide to proceed with fillers or neuromodulators.
