Hello! I'm 47 and have always strongly disliked how fat is distributed in my face- even as a teenager, with only a bit of weight gain I would accumulate fat in my jowls and it would result in deep divots in my pre-jowl sulcus. As I've aged of course its only gotten worse even though I'm at a healthy/thin weight and have filler in the pre-jowl sulcus. Short of having a facelift, I'm scheduled for facetite and Morpheus8 on my jowls and jawline on May 11th. Should I expect positive results?

Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Exercise A Healthy Dose Of Buyer Beware When Considering Expensive Supposedly "Next Big Thing" Energy-Based Devices The normal course of the aging proess is to lose volume. We lose volume in the fat pads of our faces, as well as in the underlying bone and muscles. The result is that gravity gains the upper hand and pulls especially the remnants of these now more shrunken fat pads downward. Let's just look at the upper cheek fat pads as a starter. With the passage of time, upper cheek fat pads shrink and then sink downward and inward giving rise to deepening smile lines and to some extent incipient marionette lines Sinking straight downward it can also give rise to the jawline jowls. Loss of volume in the preauricular area in front of the ears can contribute greatly to the loss of definition and jowls along the jawline. So, if loss of volume is the prime mover and shaker for the development of these problems, revolumizing and repositioning of volume into a more youthful pattern with appropriately robust HA fillers in the hands of an experienced injector is the way to address them--just the opposite of using here-today-gone-tomorrow expensive gizmos that can shrink volume. And besides, unfortunately, the hard science to support these expensive "bells and whistles" lags woefully behind the heavy marketing, advertising and social media influencer hype to promote them. You would be wise to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist regarding the use of robust HA fillers whose results, in the hands of an experienced injector, are typically immediate and engender little to no significant downtime. Hope this helps.
