I am 48 yrs old. . My neck is sagging and skin has become very crepey. Skin is thin on my neck. Will a lower facelift and or neck lift fix this. Posting again as I did not post the best pics on first post. I was told by two doctors That I was not a candidate for neck lift as scars would be worse than the state of my neck. I hate looking at myself. Any advice appreciated
Answer: Crepe like neck skin Lower face and neck lift definitely helps with that but there is a skin surface issue of wrinkling involved as well. For that you need a skin resurfacing laser. The surgery followed by the laser is the best option. Lower facelift and necklift It is important to understand that the incisions used for achieving a good result in a necklift also give a nice lift to the lower face and jowls. The purpose of a necklift is to pull the extra skin side ways behind the ears and remove it. It is also sometimes combined with Neck Liposuction and Platysmaplasty. The incision starts in the hair tuft in front of the ear and then curves in front of the ear hidden in natural curves of the ear, then next to the earlobe it goes behind the ear in the hidden groove and finally is taken over to the hairline of the neck. The skin is then lifted to expose the underlying platysma muscle. It is then pulled back and tethered to the bone behind the ear. At this point the jowl area is also pulled back with stitches under the skin in deeper tissues. These maneuvers lead to excess skin on the sides which is then trimmed and stitched back in place. Answer: Lower face and neck The photos that you have provided show that you have very early jowl formation. The neck appears slim with fullness directly under the chin and some skin excess. From a surgical position, the only relaible way to address changes to the lower face and neck is with with a full face and lower neck lift. This surgery will address any jowls as well as fullness in the neck.Alternatively, a neck lift alone procedure can be done, however, as facial aging proceeds the jowls will be come more apparent. You may wish to defer surgery until the future when the natural changes of facial aging become more apparent.

Answer: Facelift and Neck lift surgery. Thank you for your question and photographs. In general, neck lift and facelift scars tend to be relatively thin, as long as the tension applied to the flaps is not excessive. In your situation, there is also some volume excess in the submental region which would not be corrected by tension and would require specific volume reduction which involves 3 cm scar under the chin. Facelift and neck lift surgery together would provide better control for the marionette lines and jawline, but neck lift surgery alone is also a reasonable option.

Answer: Lower facelift or necklift ? The answer to this is both ! These procedures compliment each other. A scar is needed under the chin but this heals very well and is imperceptible in the long term. The neck is corrected by tightening the muscle in the neck called the platysma using a procedure called a platysmaplasty. The skin is redraped and tightened together with the facelift which means scars around the ear but again once healed you will hardly see these. A deep plane facelift is the most effective for providing the best results and for longevity. In essence the proble you have is treatable. There are examples of similar cases and worse cases on my website and here on my realself profile.

Answer: Crepey neck skin A neck lift will lift and tighten the skin on the neck. It will not improve the quality of the skin. I recommend using sunscreen and medical grade skin care products and lasers (Halo for example) to treat the crepey skin. Once the skin is improving, you can consider a neck lift if there is too much skin present.

Answer: Necklift A necklift is a great option to help you achieve a more defined jawline. Thank you for your questions and photos! You look great! To answer your question, you are a great candidate for a neck lift. The neck can get saggy for many reasons including a lot of sun exposure, weight gains or loss, pregnancy etc. Aging of the neck is very common before aging of the face. It's one of the things that can be very frustrating to patients of all ages. The face and neck keep changing as you age. Some of the changes are at the skin level, some at the deeper levels like the fat, retaining ligaments or muscles. There are several nonsurgical and surgical options to treat each of these different areas. Some can be done together and it really depends how much improvement you want to see as well as what part really bothers you. If there is significant sagging, surgery is usually the preferred procedure but can still be combined with injections and laser treatments before or after surgery. A simple way to think about it - think of surgery as addressing any excess skin and laxity as well as removing fat. Think of laser as tightening the skin levels. Injections like Kybella can nonsurgically help diminish the fat and offer improvement and there are all sorts of laser procedures that can tighten different layers as well. Most of these procedures can be done safely in the office and the results are very satisfying. An in-office private consultation and examination with a board-certified plastic surgeon would be the best way to fully see and address your specific concerns and determine the right treatment plan. I hope this helps answer your question. If it does, please take a moment to up vote this answer on the “respond” button on the top right.
