I am a 62 year old female that got Bells Palsy when I was 35.It left me with a slight dropping of the right side of my face especially my eye and mouth. I want to know since the facial nerve was damaged from the Bells Palsy if a facelift is possible ?
Answer: A face lift is possible after Bell's Palsy A face lift is possible as long as your Bell’s Palsy is stable and remote (not recent). However, a face lift may not change your persistent asymmetry. You will likely have a slight droop on that side of the face despite a facelift. With a facelift, both sides of your face will be lifted, and sometimes slight modifications can be made to accommodate for the droop. Symmetry in a face depends on several factors related to the facial nerve including muscle tone, and dynamic movement. Since the Bell’s Palsy affected the nerve, some of the neuromuscular changes will remain despite a facelift (which lifts the muscle, skin and soft tissue but does nothing to repair the function of the nerve). I recommend consulting with a board certified facial plastic surgeon to evaluate your anatomy and determine how much improvement you can expect with a facelift.

Answer: Facelift and Bells Palsy Hello, Bell's Palsy should not prohibit you from a facelift procedure. Depending on the severity of the palsy, complete or partial, there may be techniques performed at the time of surgery that could improve symmetry between the right and left sides. Hope this helps.

Answer: Facelift after Bell's Palsy Thank you very much for the question. Yes, it is definitely possible to have a facelift after Bell's palsy. In some cases, facelift techniques are actually used to improve the symmetry of the face when the facial nerve has been damaged. Though Bell's palsy does result in permanent damage to the facial nerve in some cases, this is typically more proximal (closer to the origin of the nerve) not in the distal branches near the facial muscles. Best of luck moving forward!#San Francisco Facelift
