Extreme asymmetry with upper blepharoplasty. Is it possible to fix one eye? Please help me (Photo)

Hello, Please may someone help me. I got upper blepharoplasty in March and I know it’s only been 6 months but as time is going on, the asymmetry is getting worse and worse. One eyelids has had more fat taken than the other and we’re both stitched completely different. I am a makeup artist and so social media for work and now hate putting makeup on. It really effecting me. My surgeon said he wouldn’t feel comfortable performing surgery on one eye even though he is yet to see me to discuss it.

It is always worth looking at the shape of the eyelids before you had surgery. Any differences seen are likely to exist following surgery.I appreciate that you're 6 months into the healing process, but the tissues will continue to remodel themselves up to 1 year. It is really important that you see your surgeon so that they can assess you and make any necessary plans going forward.

In both your before and after photos, you're right upper eyelid appears to be a bit droopier than your left. Sometimes small asymmetry is like this may become more obvious after upper blepharoplasty surgery. Before considering more blepharoplasty surgery, consider visiting a reputable Oculoplastic specialist. If you would require ptosis repair, it would be performed through the previous upper blepharoplasty incision. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

At 6 months, this particular issue is not going to get better on its own. Your surgeon may have told you that you need to wait 12 months before considering a revision. However this particular issue is caused by disinsertion of the central levator aponeurosis in the eyelid with an adhesion. In my opinion, it is not going to get better on its own. Effectively the crease is too high. The crease can be lowered. The challenge is that very few surgeons in the world offer this type of work. I recommend you read my Post Upper Blepharoplasty Syndrome paper. I am providing a link for this. It is important to have a detailed in person assessment. This is not something that can be done with a Zoom consultation. You do not have to live with this. Your eyes can be your best feature.

Thank you for sharing your question and posting your photos. Single eyelid blepharoplasty is commonly performed. See an experienced oculoplastic surgeon who can make your eyelids more symmetrical.

A small asymmetry which can be observed on these photos may be result of eyebrow asymmetry? Your brows are not in the same position; lower brow corresponds with eyelid that shows more skin. Possibly unilateral conservative brow lift (endoscopic) or just Botox. Good luck.
