Is Tobradex really necessary? First upper bleph, the board certified doctor didn’t prescribe it and all was fine. 8 years

8 years later I’m having upper belpharoplasty done again with a different board certified plastic surgeon and they are prescribing it. It costs $300, so surely you’d understand why I’d be questioning the necessity when I did fine without it the first time. Can someone please chime in on this?
