Botched bleph resulted in blocked tear duct - would a dacryocystorhinostomy help?

Question

Had upper eyelid done and now my eye doesn't close all the way. Also had fat implanted (think too close to the eye). So now huge bulge under my eye and pea sized hard thing under it. Been told nothing I can do by sever docs- plastics and eye... I've read maybe a dacryocystorhinostomy might work? how would I find someone good at that procedure as it seems to be a hybrid between the two specialties.

You need to see a doctor who specialized in oculoplastic surgery. They can help diagnose any nasolacrimal duct (tear duct) problem and discuss ways to improve the fat grafting. Would be extremely unusual to have a tear duct problem following eyelid surgery. Most commonly the tearing is caused from your eyes not closing all the way. Best to see an expert in your area.

If the issue was that you cannot close you're right all of the way, it might be of great benefit to have the incision opened and a small skin graft placed so you could gain full eyelid closure. This would require a consultation with a reputable Oculoplastic surgeon. Dacryocystorhinostomy's are helpful for excessive tearing from a blocked tear duct and they are very successful. This treatment however does not treat an eyelid that doesn't close all the way. I hope this is helpful. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph
