I have finally reached a point in my life where I can't go very long without exercising - it's part of my life now; with that said I will be having a body lift done in April & I am fearful of how long I cannot exercise after my surgery. I know each patient heals at a different pace, but what is a rough estimate on when I can return to my beloved exercising?

Answer: Exercise after body lift If you are undergoing a circumferential body lift, I would recommend holding off on exercise for 6-8 weeks. After this time period, I generally advise resuming your exercise regimen gradually. The key word here is gradually. Please talk to you plastic surgeon about him/her specific recommendations.Best wishes,Dr. BasuHouston, TX

Answer: Exercise after body lift surgery I encourage my patients to start gentle walking exercise as soon as possible after surgery. Typically, I allow patients to start progressively increasing their activity starting at two weeks post op. They usually return to unrestricted activity in 6-8 weeks. Good luck with your surgery!
