I'm thinking on doing the belt lipectomy surgery, and I have a couple of questions: 1) can I do the belt lipectomy + inner thighs at the same time? 2) will the hip change after the surgery? My hips seems unproportionate with my legs and upper body, I want to know what to expect. Thank you.
Answer: Yes you can combine the Belt Lipectomy and Inner Thigh Lift and I often do. Yes. You can perform a belt lipectomy or 360 circumferential body lift and the inner leg at the same time. I often combine these procedures. Is a longer surgery, however, I think the benefits outweigh the potential risks and complications. The main benefits is just one recovery, instead of two. Typically, this means faster return to work and overall less days in pain.Risks are increased due to a longer surgery. Longer surgery means increased risks under anesthesia. Additionally, since there is more surgery, there is increased risk of blood loss and more likelihood of blood transfusions.Your hips will dramatically change with the 360 circumferential body lift procedure. Please see before and after pictures of your chosen surgeon or look online. One of the beauties of the 360 circumferential body lift is that it changes the abdomen, bilateral hips, and buttocks in one surgery.Overall, it is a good procedure to combine the 360 circumferential body lift with the leg lift in the hands of an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in reconstruction after massive weight loss. Good luck on your weight-loss journey.Sincerely,J. Timothy Katzen, MD, FICS, FICSChief of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery

Answer: Can I do the belt lipectomy + inner thighs at the same time? Will the hips change after the surgery? Pictures or an exam would help to make a determination about how the hips would be affected. I typically separate the body lift and the medial thigh lift.Find a board certified plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of body contouring procedures each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

Answer: Lower body lift In order to make a final decision and determine what is best for you, having in mind safety is priority, definitely the decision will be based on how much skin has to be removed on front abdomen, sides and back areas, how tight the muscle repair has to be done, how much your butt has to be lifted and if you may need some liposuction to back, and the need of fat transference into your butt.Front thighs are lifted moderately, and a bit more than that, the lateral thigh, so your hip area and saddle bags can definitely be improved during the lower body lift and also be improved with some liposuction.Thigh lift is a tough recovery procedure, and LBL is too, so my opinion is to do in separated procedures. Please ask your surgeon for better information regarding your concerns.Dr. Cardenas
