Is lateral canthopexy able to change eye shape permanently?

I am a 22 year old man considering to have a lateral canthopexy in order to shape the shape of my eyes as the outer corners are Slightly downturned and I would like to have upturned eye shaped eyes. Is this the right procedure and if yes is the rest permanent?

Canthopexy usually is not a strong procedure to cause permanent change. Canthoplasty is a stronger technique however it may not be enough. It depends on the position of the lower eyelids. If the lower eyelids are also low, they need to be raised too. Best to have consultation.

A picture would be helpful to see what your current eye position and shape is and it can help to determine what is possible. A canthopexy can help to hitch the corner up but this is not something that should be taken lightly as this change to the eye will become permanent with scarring present. There are riss to this surgery also and therefore it would be best to get a consultation and have your eyes assessed properly to determine what is the best treatment option for you.I hope this is of help to youBW
