Hello, I recently turned 55 and have noticed I am getting a Turkey neck. It’s making me really unhappy and insecure. What can be done to improve the look of my neck? Is there anything noninvasive worth pursuing or should I look into getting a neck lift?

There are many nonsurgical options like skin tightening and all sorts of injectables to consider although surgery usually gets the most improvement specifically of the chin and lower face. There are various combinations from a mini facelift, mid facelift, and neck lift that can address different areas. One surgical option may include a short scar facelift/ mini facelift to address the minor sagging on the lower face and neck.

I would recommend that you see a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area that is a member of both ASPS & ASAPS and performs a lot of facelifts and neck lifts but also offers all the nonsurgical options such as injectables and laser treatments. Go over your concerns with them and make sure above all, you walk out of there with several options and an idea of the pros and cons to each of them as well as realistic expectations.

Based on your age and photos, I would recommend a face/neck lift for the best most natural and long-lasting result. Non-surgical options are not going to give you the neck contour you are looking for in my opinion, but you could consider thread lifts, radio-frequency microneedling, or NeckTite minimally invasive treatments to stimulate collagen.

"A combination approach would give the most improvement. Nonsurgical options such as Kybella, PDO NovaThreads, and Ultherapy do well in combination for skin tightening, but the results are mild compared to surgical options.

Hello, thank you for your question. Ultimately a neck lift will give you the most dramatic result. There are forms of procedures to help reduce some of that skin laxity such as the morpheaus 8 that show some results. I would consider your expectations and see the cost of each.

The "turkey neck" problem is quite a routine one in any active cosmetic dermatology practice. I have personally achieved gratifying results nonsurgically employing robust HA fillers to lift and reposition the sides of the neck so as to minimize the central deformity followed by the use of a more cohesive, low viscosity HA filler for further smoothing of the central area and improving both its quality and tautness--i.e. a nonsurgical "liquid" necklift. A healthy dose of "buyer beware" caution is in order when being hawked this or that fraxel or RF devices, as the hard science to support the use of these expensive "bells and whistles" gizmos unfortunately lags woefully behind the heavy marketing and social media hype to promote them. This includes tightening loose facial and neck skin, tightening loose facial and neck muscles, lifting the jowls, and removing fat deposits in the neck in addition to a platysma-plasty to significantly improve the jawline.
