Weight loss post facelift?

Question

I have underwent a facelift procedure at a relatively young age (in my early 30s). I have a family history of jowls and I noticed premature jowls on myself hence the procedure. I weigh 70kg and my goal weight is 60kg. Will losing this amount of weight significantly affect the results of my deep plane facelift? I’m worried of affecting the results but also wish to lose weight. I did gain 3kg (from 67kg) during recovery of the procedure due to not being able to be as active as I normally am!

Thank you for your inquiry. In general, volume loss from weight loss can alter facial contours and potentially compromise the overall quality of a facelift. Younger patients are typically less affected because their skin’s elasticity better compensates for reductions in facial volume. Additionally, weight loss in younger individuals tends to result in fewer mid-face changes compared to those seen later in life.

Thank you for your question. With the mentioned amount of weight loss, exspect some changes of your face. What corrective procedure might be needed, is hard to forsee. It could be anything from no procedure, to aesthetic treatments, lipofilling, or a secondary facelift / necklift. I all depends on your current appearance, your skin & soft tissue. Since weight loss happens usually gradually, you will be able to observe the changes. I hope this info helps a little.

Hello, hope you are well. Losing 10kg and greater than 10% of your body weight can certainly change your facial appearance regardless of whether you have undergone a facelift or not. People who lose even more substantial amounts of weight sometimes discover/reveal more skin laxity than they thought they had.

Everyone is different in how their facelift responds to weight loss. And it is also subjective. You just need to lose the weight and figure it out after that
