Does this sound like I have scar tissue inside the nose?

I had rhinoplasty done 6 years ago and had a steroid injection several times over the course of the first 3 and a half years and the steroid injections made a tremendous difference I didnt have a steroid injection for almost 3 years and my nose is now what it looked like pre injections, thick and shapeless. I had a steroid injection 3 weeks ago and the doctor struggled to get the injection inside, she said it was hard inside. Is this scar tissue & should i get another injection?

Hello. It is difficult to say what exactly is going on without examining you. However what you describe sounds like you may have developed scar tissue on your nose from the previous surgery. It is best to consult with your rhinoplasty surgeon to see what options are available for you, including possible further steroid injections among other things.

Steroids do not completely remove scar tissue and may cause more problems with atrophy.  If there is hard thick scar tissue that causes your nose to appear thick and shapeless, you may be better of with a revision rhinoplasty.

From your history, scar deposition is the likely source. Further injections (as it appears impossible) or surgical exercises to remove scar tissue may prove fruitless as it will create a new plane of dissection susceptible to more scarring....and may result in vascular damage with scarring to the overlying skin.... not a decision to be based on an internet forum...An in-person evaluation and discussion with a board certified plastic surgeon is required to determine the risk / benefit ratio.
