I had two liposuction surgeries as the first one turned out very bad, after my revision is basically looks the same. I did everything right, have my massages, wear my compression, eat and exercise. Please someone advice me as my doctor says it will be fine with time but he said that with my first surgery.
Answer: Liposuction result Unfortunately you have developed scarring of the abdominal skin flap that is causing these irregularities. Massage and time should help. Eventually a procedure to undermine the scar and fat graft may be needed.

Answer: Poorly done, Liposuction Delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who approach mastery of this procedure is in reality quite small. Most plastic surgeons think are better at Liposuction than they actually are. Liposuction results are defined by two variables. The first is the patient’s candidacy for the procedure and the second is provider selection or the skill of the surgeon. Not everybody seeking Liposuction has to potential to get quality outcomes. In your case, I would say you appear to have been reasonably good candidate for Liposuction. In a nutshell, the best candidates for Liposuction are young individuals with tight skin And thick layers of undesirable subcutaneous fat who do not have pregnancy related variables. Finding the right provider is not at all easy or straightforward. I generally recommend people do this by having multiple in person consultations before selecting a provider. There’s no correct number of consultations needed to find the provider. The more consultations you schedule the more likely you are to find a better provider. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients who had similar body characteristics to your own. Provider should have showing you before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. Being shown a handful of preselected pictures representing only the best results of a providers career may be insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average or typical results look like in the hands of that provider. It’s a good idea to bring pictures of your body to use as reference during the consultation, especially one reviewing before and after pictures Careful note during each consultation, especially regarding the quantity and quality of before and after pictures. The biggest mistake I see patients make is having only one consultation then scheduling surgery. Another big mistake is relying on virtual consultation which do not allow patients to properly vet providers. The second biggest mistake I see patients make is assuming a board certified plastic surgeon with years of experience and a handful of positive reviews has mastered most plastic surgical procedures. The section results should be considered permanent and irreversible. The ability to improve poor outcomes is difficult and often not possible. The ability to improve the outcome is based on the patient’s initial candidacy and how much fat was removed during the previous procedure. Revision work is many times more difficult than primary Liposuction. Patients should be even more selective when it comes to choosing providers for Liposuction revision work. In your case there may be some room for improvement but the ability to restore this to a quality outcome is no longer there. If you are going to attempt another revision then you need to be very careful in finding the right plastic surgeon, This may require having quite a few consultations. Look for providers who focus exclusively on liposuction or those whose practice has a strong emphasis on this procedure. Insist on seeing as many before and after pictures as possible especially of revision work. Rely exclusively on in person consultations if possible. Best, Mats Hagström MD
